IDPs MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE TASKS RESIDENTS TO RELOCATE TO GOVERNMENT APPROVED CAMPS

The newly inaugurated camps management committees for Anambra West Local Government Area Internally displaced persons for flood victims today, 19th October, 2024 have taken awareness campaign to different communities to move to the camps provided by the government.

Among the communities visited are Umueze Anam, Umuoba/Abugbu Anam and Mmiata Anam. According to their spokesperson, the awareness campaign team will equally go to other communities they are yet to visit today.
The committee led by the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Mrs Edith Ndive on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor in her message called on those living in coastal areas to relocate to higher grounds as the local government in conjunction with the state government have made adequate arrangements to accommodate them in two separate camps located at Onitsha and Umueri.
During the enlightening tour, Hon. Mrs Edith Ndive, said adequate plans to evacuate the residents of Anambra West to higher grounds till the flood recede is currently top priority.
“The government would not abandon umu Anambra West for a second in this trying time of flooding. She said the government is committed to make sure no live is lost due to  flood this year,” Hon. Ndive stated.
The two camps management committee coordinators, Hon. Godwin Onyeaka and Comr. Chukwujekwu Offordile in their separate speeches equally added that, there is ongoing arrangements for mattresses, feeding, and medical supplies for the two camps, and urged the residents to relocate to the camps as soon as possible.
