Deputy Senate Leader Distributes Laptops, Trains Youths in Kwara South

The Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Ashiru, as part of his human capital development drive, has distributed 350 laptops to youths in the Kwara South Senatorial District.

The laptop distribution marks the conclusion of a four-week-long digital training and ICT empowerment program facilitated by the lawmaker in collaboration with One Innovation Hub Offa (ONEIH) and the National Productivity Centre.

The beneficiaries, drawn from Ifelodun, Offa, Oyun, Irepodun, Isin, Oke-Ero, and Ekiti local government areas of Kwara State, had earlier participated in digital literacy/STEM, PCB Basics, multimedia development, and web development training at One Innovation Hub Offa (ONEIH) in Offa.

In addition, youth groups, including KWAYORG, Igbomina Youth Assembly, Offa Youth Council, Ibolo Youth Development Association, Ekiti Navigators, and Oke-Ero Youth Movement, had earlier received laptops during an advanced ICT training held at Monarch Palace Hotel in Ganmo, Ifelodun local government area.

Senator Oyelola Ashiru, in his brief remarks, urged beneficiaries to utilize the training and make proper use of the laptops to boost their productivity.

Experimental Program Aimed at Reducing Unemployment

The senator, represented by his personal assistant, Hammed Omuiyadun, stated that the mega digital empowerment program aims to reduce unemployment and provide sustainable means of livelihood for beneficiaries.

Some beneficiaries, in a chat with newsmen, described the opportunity as exciting, fulfilling, and rewarding.

One beneficiary, Oyindamola Busari from Oyun local government, expressed gratitude to Senator Ashiru for his significant investment in the youth of Kwara South.
