NCAA Reiterates Pledge to Enhance Investments in Aviation Sector

The Acting Director General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority NCAA, Capt. Chris Najomo says the agency is committed to transforming policies to unlock opportunities and attract investors into the aviation industry for economic growth and prosperity in Nigeria.

Najomo disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, at the North-Central Regional Air Transportation Summit.

Najomo who was represented at the event by Captain Donald Tonye, Director of Operations, Licensing, and Training, said by enhancing operational efficiency, financial stability, and service excellence, the NCAA will create tremendous value for all stakeholders and catalyse economic growth.

He described the summit as critical to achieving the statutory mandate and corporate goals of the authority, particularly with the dynamic stewardship of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

“With the support of the minister, we at NCAA are committed to rebranding, reinventing, and rejuvenating the Nigerian aviation sector for international competitiveness, sustainable growth, and development.l

“The NCAA is committed to a sustainable regulatory framework built on collective engagement and strategic collaboration to achieving operational excellence, enhanced productivity, and sector growth without compromising safety standards.”

Captain Tonye noted that the NCAA framework approach is aligned with local and international regulations and is a cornerstone of the authority’s Strategic focus.

Speaking at the sidelines of the event, Mr. Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NCAA said the summit is essential as it brings aviation Stakeholders together to enhance the civil aviation industry in Nigeria.

He further expressed the commitment of the NCAA in hosting such summit regularly to enable stakeholders and the NCAA to stay in tune with the business of aviation.

Furthermore, he stated that the signing of the Cape Town Convention practice direction of the Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorization IDERA would grant Nigeria the opportunity to attack foreign investors into the country.

The theme of the summit, “Building a Viable Aviation Industry for National Economic Growth and Development”, is designed to foster dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders in the aviation sector and to address service deficiencies and poor passenger experiences stemming from inadequate funding.
