First Anambra Entrepreneur To Pay His Workers N70,000 Minimum Wage

The Chairman/CEO of Zara Stores Ltd Awka, Anambra State, Chief Akai Egwuonwu has announced his decision to pay his workers a minimum wage of N70,000.

While making the announcement, Chief Egwuonwu who is also the CEO of Stone Industries Ltd (producers of Anambra Rice) agreed that his decision aligns with that of Governor Charles Soludo’s developmental agenda which demonstrates great commitment to supporting employees during hard times.

Implementation

Talking about implementation, he said that the new salary structure will take effect from November 2024.

Chief Egwuonwu is reportedly the first private sector operator in Anambra State and possibly other States to implement the N70,000 minimum wage which is aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship on his workers.

The company in a release said Chief Egwuonwu’s proactive approach sets a positive example for other private sector operators, prioritizing workers’ welfare and contributing to the Nation’s development.

“It is on record that companies owned by Chief Akai Egwuonwu are well known for offering high-quality products and services at affordable prices,” it stated.
