The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commended the Messengers of Peace Foundation (MOPF) for encouraging a culture of love and tolerance through its peace initiatives especially targeted at empowering young people in the society.
The Administration through its Social Development Secretariat (SDS) gave the commendation as the grand finale of the 2024/2025 edition of the Queens of Peace Nigeria/International organised by MOPF and its partners, in Abuja.
Speaking at the event held at the weekend, SDS Mandate Secretary, Hon. Ibrahim Aminu, noted that the message of peace is very essential, especially at a time when there is so much trouble all over the world.
Aminu, who was represented by the Acting Director, Department of Arts & Culture, SDS, Mr. Kayode Aiyegbusi, said: “We all need to support the initiative because it is not one that will need billboards, as we must practice it. You just don’t say it, you live it, as you must just be at peace with your neighbour for your country to be at peace with itself.
“For us at the Social Development Secretariat (SDS), it is a very important and germane message to our development at this time .
“When we look around us, we see so much turmoil, conflicts and disagreements, so it is essential that we keep propagating the message of peace, because we can’t have any progress or development if there is no peace.
“So, we must be at peace with each other, which means we must be tolerant of each other. And we must understand each other, even though we are not the same. God did not make a mistake by making us different, is for a purpose, but we need to understand each other to be able to live with each other.”
Earlier, the National President of the MOPF, Dr. Suleiman Adejoh, called on Nigerians to always promote peace in any environment.

Adejoh while stressing the need to shun violence, implored Nigerians to discourage the act of protest in the country.
He said:” The act of protest should be discouraged in our country. If you have any need to get angry with the government, there are better ways to do that, and dialogue is the only way out.
“So if there is conflict in any family, its members should come together to discuss it, and by the grace of God, solutions will be found.
“Our responsibility solemnly is to pray for our leaders. No matter how good or bad our leaders are, since they are saddled with the responsibility of care, we owe them a duty to pray for their wellbeing.”
The MOPF president called on all Nigerians to support the lead queen, who will be the Queen of Peace Nigeria, Queen of Peace International, and young ladies crowned queens, representing the 6 geopolitical zones of the country.
The organisers disclosed that 10 were crowned queens of peace, out of the selected young ladies from across Nigeria, who were groomed and mentored on peace, fundamental human rights and other sundry issues, while on a camp within two weeks period.
Highpoints of the event was the handover of power from the 2023 Queens of Peace Nigeria to the 2024 newly crown queens.
Also, MOP kids and SDS cultural troops entertained contestants and guests with colourful dances and displays.
