Civil Society Groups Pass Vote Of Confidence On Kano State Governor

Eighty Nine (89) Civil Society Groups who took part in the just concluded local governments elections in Kano state, have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for organising the polls.

The groups made this known while briefing Journalists on their findings across the 44 Council polls.

Margaret Anih and Victor Kalu who read the election observation reports, told journalists that, the Kano councils elections, recorded impressive turn out with adherence to the restrictions of movements.

They lauded Governor Yusuf for discharging his constitutional responsibility and abiding by supreme court in organising Council elections.

The Supreme Court has ruled that, any state that did not conduct local government election will be denied of its allocation.

The local government election is a very critical sector to any administration as it is closer to the public.

Therefore, the CSOs acknowledged that the Saturday’s LG elections was conducted for citizens interest and held in a peaceful atmosphere.

They said, despite the absence of the police in all the polling units, the elections held peacefully across the state.

The CSO’s lauded the the people of Kano state for participating in the elections to vote Council leaders of their choice.

The 87 CSO’S also, presented the election observation reports to the Chairman, Kano state Independent Electoral Commission KANSIEC Professor Sani Malumfashi.

Malumfashi appreciated the efforts of the CSO’s towards entrenching democracy in Nigeria.

He encouraged them keep on struggling for the rights of democracy and sustainable of the system.

Your presence added so much value to on the just concluded local government elections. 

“You came from bear and far all in attempt to consolidate grassroot democracy in the state and also across the country. 

“We are not unaware of the fact that you contributed towards the success of the election. 

“Please continue the struggle of entrenching democracy in Nigeria, one day it will be better for us in this country,” Malumfashi said.
