The Minister of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mr Nyesom Wike, says all the area councils of the FCT will feel the impact of the President Tinubu-led administration.
The Minister gave the assurance at the inauguration of the construction of the 15.5-kilometre Pai – Gomani Road in Kwali Area Council of FCT on Tuesday.
He also emphasised that the Tinubu-led government is committed to inclusivity, assuring that everyone will have the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the dividends of democracy under Tinubu’s leadership.
The Minister stated that his appointment was not intended for land sales in the FCT, but rather to enhance its infrastructure.
“I took the position to support Mr President to improve the infrastructure of the FCT. That is why, every day, our concern is infrastructure, infrastructure, and infrastructure; be it in the city; be it in the rural areas,” he said.
He noted that the communities along the expressway to Gomani are blessed with fertile land, ideal for agricultural production.
He added that the project, once completed, would significantly boost agricultural output in the region. However, Wike expressed dissatisfaction with how the project was awarded.
He explained that the contract was awarded to connect Pai and Gomani, while the road from the Abuja – Lokoja Expressway (A2) to Pai was not awarded.
“Now, if you construct the road from Pia to Gomani, how do you come to Pai, when that road is not motorable?
“Whoever is behind that; you are not being fair, and we cannot continue this way. The truth must be told at all times,” he said.

To address the issue, Wike said that he has made a call for a virement for some funds to be able to construct the road from A2 to Pai as an emergency project.
“We are all humans. How will these people feel that you are passing their community and there is no road, and after passing their community you are awarded a contract for construction of the road?
He assured residents of the affected communities that the project would be completed, adding that no community would be left behind in Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Earlier, the Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Mr Danladi Chiya, thanked the minister for all the support to the area councils in terms of infrastructural development.
Chiya noted that the area councils were successfully executing various projects due to Wike’s non-interference with their allocations. He extended an invitation for Wike to visit and see these projects first-hand.
Senator David Jimkuta, Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, emphasised that the completion of the road would enhance connectivity between the area councils and the city center.
Jimkuta also mentioned that the ongoing development of social infrastructure would enable residents to live comfortably anywhere within the FCT. He reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to supporting the FCT Minister’s initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for all residents.
Additionally, Representative Abdulrahman Ajiya (APC-Abuja South) highlighted the importance of security efforts in providing swift access to communities facing security challenges in the area.
