Stakeholders Converge On Abuja For CGIAR Initiative Wrap Up Workshop

The West and Central African Food Systems Transformation (CGIAR) have commenced its annual and wrap up workshop on the Regional Integrated Initiative Transforming Agrifood Systems in West and Central Africa (TAFS-WCA) programme in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.
The objective of the workshop is to discuss completed and ongoing activities of the Initiative, assess and summarize the achievements of the three years of implementation, Organised roundtable with the partners of the Initiative for informing, sharing of experiences, and synergy towards impact at scale, Discuss the activities to be carried out in West and Central Africa (WCA) in the new CGIAR portfolio (with focus on Scaling Accelerator and Policy Science Program) and a host of others.
The TAFS-WCA is a regional integrated initiative which aims to improve nutrition, incomes, and food security within the context of climate change in West and Central Africa through nutritious, climate-adapted, and market-driven food systems.

 

The three years Initiative is divided into five integrated work packages Sustainable Intensification and Diversification for Nutritious and safe food and Resilient Food Production, Informed Digital Agriculture for Climate Resilience, Sustainable and Inclusive Landscape Management, Youth and Women Entrepreneurship Models, and Accelerating Impact of Investments and Catalyzing Impact at Scale.
The workshop’s expected outcome is to Evaluate report on the activities carried out during implementation of the Initiative, a summary of the achievements from the three years of the Initiative’s Implementation, and help Participants have a good understanding of the incoming the new portfolio (Scaling Accelerator and Policy Science Program), amongst others.
The four days event is bringing together stakeholders in agriculture technology and the participating countries of Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, and Rwanda.
