The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo,  announced on Friday the distribution of vegetable seedlings to 8,000 farmers throughout the state as part of her foundation, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo. This initiative aims to promote health and prosperity in the region while fostering sustainable agricultural practices.

The unveiling of the Healthy Living Community Garden and Farmer’s Market Programme took place in Ogidi, the headquarters of the Idemili North Council Area. During the ceremony, Mrs. Soludo highlighted the significance of this initiative as a cornerstone of her pet project dedicated to enhancing the well-being of Anambra’s residents.
The seedlings distributed include a diverse range of crops such as okra, tomatoes, cucumbers, leafy greens, and various types of peppers, as well as maize and sweet corn.
In her address, Mrs. Soludo encouraged the local population, particularly women, to actively participate in the programme. “Embracing this initiative is vital to sustaining food production and ensuring we have surplus for both local and international markets,” she stated.
She also called on the Council Chairman, Mr. Stanley Nwoka, to assist in securing land for the project’s implementation, expressing gratitude for the citizens’ ongoing support of her husband’s administration.

Responding to the initiative, Chairman Nwoka praised Mrs. Soludo’s dedication, affirming that the people of Idemili North will work in tandem with her efforts to maximize the programme’s impact for the benefit of Ndi-Anambra. He pledged to rally community support to guarantee the initiative’s success.
In addition to the seedling distribution, the event launched the Healthy Living Workout Sessions, set to take place every Saturday across all 21 local government areas of the state. This component of the programme emphasizes the importance of physical health and community engagement, aiming to foster a culture of wellness among residents.
These combined efforts reflect a comprehensive strategy to uplift the agricultural and health sectors in Anambra, paving the way for a more prosperous future for its citizens.
