The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on Diaspora Investors particularly Nigerians and their Partners in Canada to cause an Agricultural Revolution in his state.
On the side-line of the just concluded Canada-Nigeria Business Summit, Governor Bago informed the Diaspora Business Community in Toronto, Canada, that, Niger State is not only ready for the establishment of Livestock Markets but has also signed Four Component Agreements with the Brazilian Government in Sugar Plantation Agriculture.
He added that the state has set aside 100 hectares of land for Nollywood, and an offer for land and farm implements for Diaspora agriculture in Niger State.
He also stated that there is an offer of the famous Zuma Rock Hotel for Hospital in collaboration with Nigerian-Canadian Medical Doctors.
Similarly, the Chairman Senate Committee on Diaspora, Non Governmental Organizations and Civil Societies, Sen Victor Umeh assured the forum of support from the National Assembly for robust legislations that will encourage Diaspora investment for homeland development.
The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who facilitated and coordinated the Fireside Chat, along with CEO Canada Vendors , Maryam Murtala ,said the meeting was intentional to galvanize States’ involvement in Diaspora investment.
During the chat, Nigerians resident in Canada, including Councillor Ayo Owodunni and Councillor Khadijat, emphasized their desire to collaborate with their Country of origin for National Development.
