Food and Allied Technologies Expo to Boost Agriculture Sector

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI says it is committed to securing a robust economy, which includes promoting and supporting sectors like agriculture that contribute substantially to Nigeria’s GDP.

The President of the ACCI, Dr Emeka Obegolu revealed this at the opening of the maiden Food and Allied Technologies FARMFATECH Expo organised by ACCI, Autodex Nigeria Limited and other partners in Abuja, Nigeria.

He said the aim of the expo is to spotlight investment opportunities in the agro-allied sector, engage policymakers to support the industry, and encourage policies to propel economic and individual growth.

“FARMFATECH is a groundbreaking, three-day Expo designed to foster global partnerships, particularly between Nigeria and China, as well as other key players in agricultural technology.”

The Chairman Autodex Limited, Dr Nnamdi Ezeani said the company has the capacity to fabricate tractors and and equipment used in the agriculture sector to boost productivity.

“We have, over time, been able to achieve up to 23% of local content by starting with SKD units. And now we can do complete knockdown.”

“Autodex has in the past 12 years been able to assemble 242 units of tractors and over 600 units of implement we provide destination services, what that means is that we can come to the farm where the tractors are to provide services,” he stated.

Acting Group Managing Director, Client Relations, Afreximbank Group, Mr Eric Intong during the event said African nations can harness the full potential of their agricultural resources by focusing on modernising practices, investing in
infrastructure, ensuring access to finance, supporting policy frameworks, and promoting regional trade cooperation.

“Afteximbank’s sixth strategic plan is focusing on Industrialization and Export Development which covers the financing of importation and manufacturing of agricultural equipment, local manufacturing and value-added exports.

“This plan aims to diversify and accelerate the transformation of Africa’s trade from reliance on primary commodities towards industrialization and export promotion.

“Afreximbank, we work collaboratively with all stakeholders to create an enabling envitonment that fosters innovation and investment in agriculture, together we can build resilient food systems that feed our populations and contribute significantly to economic development across the continent,” he added.
