The Emir of Kano in North West Nigeria, Muhammadu Sanusi II has visited the freed detainees currently receiving treatment at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital in Kano.
Emir Sanusi in the company of Kano state Commissioners of Health, Abubakar Labaran and Education, Haruna Doguwa among others visited wards and interacted with the patients on their beds.
While praying for them, Emir Sanusi commended President Bola Tinubu for coming to their aid and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He also thanked good-spirited individuals for their concern in freeing the detainees.
Emir Sanusi called on the security agencies to always check and arrest the real culprits during disturbances to avoid punishing innocent citizens.
“On interviewing them, many of them are students who go to school and they were picked up in the streets, not in the middle of any violent act. It is sad that they received this treatment but we thank the presidency and federal government for intervening and bringing an end to their difficulties because if this had continued I’m sure many of them would have lost their lives.”

Emir Sanusi commiserated with the families of the patients.
“We urge the authorities to focus on the adults who started this riot. This riot happened in Kano, photographs were taken, people were identified, and those people have been walking around the streets including in Abuja while these children have been in the custody.
“We hope that in the interest of justice when these things happen, we will identify the real culprits and arrest them and try them rather than innocent children.
“We urge the people to continue to be prayerful to the leadership that God guide them and continue to bring peace and prosperity to our land,” the Emir added.
Recall that Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shetima had handed over the minors to Governor Yusuf after being discharged by the Federal High Court in Abuja following the withdrawal of charges against them by the Nigerian Government.
