Talking Drummer Ara set to celebrate 25 years on Stage
Africa’s foremost talented female talking drummer, Aralola Olamuyiwa, popularly known as “Ara”, is set to celebrate her 50th birthday and 25 years on stage, in January 2025. Ara disclosed this in an interview in Lagos state saying that she began her career as a professional drummer in 1999 and is set to celebrate the milestones.
She noted that a legacy project “Ara Drum Heritage Centre”, would be unveiled during the double celebrations. She explained that the centre would be dedicated to sustaining traditional drumming, fostering creative talent, and instilling a profound sense of cultural pride.
“I plan to establish a world-class drum museum showcasing African drumming history and cultural significance.
“This is to provide training and educational programmes for drummers, focusing on traditional and contemporary techniques.
“It will also be a platform to host workshops, concerts, and cultural events celebrating drumming’s role in African culture.
“It is also meant to create a community hub for drummers, musicians, and cultural enthusiasts to develop partnerships with local and international organisations to promote cultural exchange.
“This legacy project is dear to my heart, and I will be unveiling more information on it soon.
“I remain grateful to God, my fans, friends, and family for the journey so far,” she said.
The multitalented star, Aralola Olamuyiwa, commonly known by her stage name Ara, is a female singer, entertainer, talking drummer, and the cultural ambassador of the Ooni of Ife. She is the foremost female drummer in Africa.
