Cavic Art And Tech Launches App To Enhance National Cultural Heritage

The Cavic Art and Tech has launched an Application known as Ojiraeyi APP to enhance National Cultural Heritage World Wide.

 

During the Unveiling Programme, in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital, the Convenor of the Festival and Director of the Creative Art and Visual image Center, Mr. Philips Agbese explained what App is all about, “This App called Ojiraeyi App is being long time coming, we actually the first to pioneer this conversation, especially on this skill where Tech and Creative People can synergise and work together as a team and they don’t have to do it physically, you could be far away in this day where everybody practically has a phone a functional phone that you can reach people on social media, you can also begin to build a project, you can meet people, build new friends and push your own cultural ideology through this APP is a market place”. Mr. Agbese stated.

 

 

On stressing the need for collaboration between Tech People and Art Creative People, “One of the biggest challenges we face is getting creative people, Tech people sit down together agree and even do a project, creative people say we don’t understand them and Tech People also say we don’t understand that and some say say how do I have time to come and start building it”. The Director emphasised.

Commendation “We are happy as we brought people together, we have started seeing synergy and collaboration and we don’t want to it just physically, we still have the physical way but how many can accommodate the space, but with this APP we can engage people across the continent”.The Convenor commended.

 

 

Explaining the driving force for starting this festival, the Coordinator said “I found that artists in Nigeria were disconnected from the bigger picture out there. Because for the longest time we have been very traditional about what we did, and while we’ve preserved that form of art, the whole world is actually changing, and so our art also needs to evolve, not do away with the old, but find new forms of expression, maybe expressing the old ways of art in a much modern way, to engage even the younger people and to be able to teach them our art in their own languages”. Mr. Agbese elaborated

 

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Mr. Otumba Aji oye, urged Nigerians to respect and imbibe their culture for human dignity and nation building,

” We are just coming to realize that our culture should in the fore front, anybody who doesn’t respect, understand, realize his culture is as good as not existing at all, there is no way that you can navigate with a lot of people, your humanity without good and sufficient sense of history of who you are, your culture reflecting in the kind of food you eat, the kind of dress you wear and the kind of spirituality, you carry, everybody, every society has some spirituality they take around, Islam is a culture of the people, Christianity is a culture of the people, love your own culture and be proud of it”. The Executive Secretary stressed.

 

In his message Director General National Gallery of Art, Mr. Ahmed Sodangi, represented by the Director information Services, Mr. Emeka Odiari, said the “DG believes that this platform where Nigerian youths would get engage and this platform is endless, endless possibilities and the National Gallery and Art we are very committed to this project, we are part of it and we will remain part of it”.The DG assured

 

A Cultural Attache’ from Ukrainian Embassy, Mr. Daniel Shevchuk, who appreciate the Nigerian culture and Tradition said, “The more I am staying in Nigeria, the more I am getting impression that, Nigeria has incredibly deep cultures which are yet to be exploited, and I am very glad to see that Nigerians started to be more and more interested in the history of the ancestors of their nation, there is saying that “A nation that doesn’t know history has no future” so I do believe that Nigeria has future because it’s history is vast and incredibly reach, this kind of festival gives foreigners like me opportunity to dive into Nigerian Tradition for a section of the World which is very unique”. Mr. Shevchuk stated.

An Artist and Computer Scientist from Abia State, Southern Nigeria, Miss. Monica Emetu, explained the some of the benefits of the Art and Tech convergence, “Recently we being noticing people of this young generation are losing their culture and it is not like before were you say our gatherings catched fire, so this doesn’t happen any more, you can gather all these things to digital method accessible anybody and anywhere in the world”. Miss. Emetu said

 

Cavic Festival of Creativity & Technology has not just gone global, but this year is also all about immersive experiences and building a future where art and tech meets to address challenges in our realities.
The digital cultural exhibition was Unveiled of the works produced by artists that combine art and technology to showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
