Katsina Government Sets To Assist Irrigation Farmers For Food Security

The Katsina state irrigation authority has concluded arrangements to start data capturing of irrigation farmers across the state.
The Managing Director of the agency, AbdulKadir Mamman Nasir who disclosed this during a joint meeting with farmers in Katsina, said the initiative which aligns with the state’s government strategic approach to improving irrigation sector was also meant to assist the farmers to improve their production toward achieving food security in the state.
This is with a view to enable the state government to have accurate data of farmers with aim of identifying more areas of assisting them to achieve food security in the state”, he stated.
The Managing Director pointed out that in oder to achieve the programme’s desire, the anomers tors for the exercise have already received the required training for the conduct of the farmer’s data capturing.
We are already in partnership with all relevant stakeholders and we have  gathered here, today, to discuss modalities on how best to achieve success of this exercise that is coming very soon“, he said.
AbdulKadir Nasir praised the state Governor, malam Dikko Umaru Radda for the support he has been given to the agency toward achieving it’s mandate.
He also highlighted the strides made by the Governor to improve the agricultural sector in the state
The Managing Director said “the efforts include recruitment of extension workers to assist farmers and the provision of fertilizer with other farm inputs at subsidized price in the state“.
