Katsina State, World Bank Construct 45 Junior Secondary Schools

The Katsina State Government, in collaboration with World Bank-funded Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), has constructed 45 junior secondary schools in the state

The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Katsina state, Alhaji Kabir Magaji Gafia while praising the world bank intervention during commissioning of the 75 secondary schools constructed under the Katsina state/ world bank project in Katsina said the 45 newly constructed Junior secondary school JSS are among the 75 constructed schools under the collaboration.

He said while the 45 schools are for junior secondary education, the remaining 30 newly constructed ones which are all in the first phase are for senior secondary education.

“They were constructed in such a way to ensure retention and completion of our children education, that is why most of them are located in rural communities to address critical barriers to children’s access to secondary education.

“It will make it easier for our rural children to start their secondary education immediately they have finished their primary schools, there by bringing an end to drop out challenge occasioned by the distance of secondary schools from the communities,” Gafia stated.

He said through this approach a child can have automatic transition from primary to secondary school within the same environment.

The Executive Chairman expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for their immense support in the education sector in the state noting that that “AGILE project has positively impacted the socio-economic condition of people in the state,” he said.

While also appreciating the magnanimity of the state governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda for the transformation of the education sector in the state, Dr. Kabir Gafia solicited more support from the teachers and all stakeholders to achieve the desired results.

He described primary education as the bedrock of education through which every level of education derives its success

“As of now the state government under our amiable governor, malam Dikko Radda with support from various interventions has expended not less than 15 billion naira within the year to transform the education sector in the state,” he stated.
