Kano Head Teachers Seek Deployment of Sponsored Graduates to schools

Some Head Teachers in Kano state, North West Nigeria have advocated for the deployment of the the recent state-sponsored graduates to basic schools to enhance education at the grassroots.

They said the deployment of Trained graduates who were sponsored abroad to teach at the basic levels would improve the standard of Education in the state.

They made the plea when a team of Correspondents visited some schools to assess the level of progress on Kano’s Education Emergency policy.

The Head Teacher of Kumbotso Special Primary School, Shaibu Idris said since huge investment has been channeled on the sponsorship of Kano graduates abroad, bringing them back to Primary and Secondary school classes will rejuvenate the system for a brighter future.

The Head Master commended the education policy of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the ongoing construction of classes as well as the provision of instructional materials.

He called on the Kano State Government to provide perimeter fencing in the school to prevent trespassing and boggling.

“Lack of perimeter fencing is a major problem. This has caused serious trespassing and boggling in a school Constructed in 1948.

“We equally don’t have enough teaching staff, currently we have fourteen classes, three without chairs.

“Due to congestion, some classes used to have up to 100 students.”

Also, the Head Teacher of Sumakai Science and Mathematics Primary School, Iliyasu Dauda believed that getting the right foundations at the basic education level will give pupils better academic direction at the post-secondary levels.

He called for additional teaching staff to help the 9 teachers handling 380 pupils in the science-oriented school.

The village Head of Kumbotso, Aminu Iliyasu commended the education policy of Governor Yusuf in addressing the educational needs of the people.

“We have benefited in some instructional materials and infrastructure.”

The Kano state declaration of a state of emergency on Education is yielding results as the construction of more classes is ongoing across Primary and Secondary Schools.

A story building of 4 classrooms is also ongoing at Tudun na Yaya Chiromawa, Garun Malam local government area.
