Borno State: Troops eliminate 15 Terrorists

The troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) operating under Sector 3 in Mongunu, Nigeria have intercepted and neutralized 15 terrorists fleeing ISWAP terrorists and captured additional cache of weapons in ongoing clearance operation in Kukawa, Borno State.

Consolidating on the recent victory, the troops in a joint effort with hybrid force and air component support, targeted and interdicted several armed and wounded terrorists on motor bikes regrouping in Guzamala.

A statement by Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF N’Djamena Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba revealed that in a follow-up ground operation, troops eliminated 15 terrorists and one captured alive as they attempted to flee after sustaining more injuries.

The troops also destroyed three additional Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs), bringing the total number of VBIEDs destroyed to 7.

The operation led to the capture of a significant cache of weapons, including 7 AK-47 rifles, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bomb and tube, 2 Anti-aircraft guns, and 152 Shilka rounds of ammunition .

The ongoing clearance operation marks a decisive step in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the region, further weakening the terrorists ranks.

The MNJTF says it remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of the local population.
