Yellow Greens Advance to ICC T20 Regional Finals
Nigeria’s senior men’s cricket team, the Yellow Greens, have advanced to the final phase of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers with a game to spare. Their fourth consecutive win, a 29-run victory over Sierra Leone at the Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier C in Abuja, secured their spot in the regional finals.
Joining Nigeria in the next round is Botswana, who clinched the second automatic qualification spot with a nine-wicket win over Eswatini. Both teams now move on to compete against Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, and Uganda, the latter two having received byes to the regional finals.
Despite qualification being settled, the tournament’s final day promises excitement. Nigeria faces Botswana in a decisive match to determine the tournament champion, while Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast aim to end on a high note in their respective fixtures.
Coach Steve Tikolo expressed confidence in his team’s ability to finish strong, highlighting their consistency and support from fans and the cricket board as key motivators.
