The Nigerian Ministry of Works has emphasised the importance of equipping the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation with advanced technology to enhance its performance and operational efficiency.

The Minister of State, Works, Mr Muhammad Bello Goronyo, stated this during a working visit to the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation OSGoF in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

While noting the need for increased funding to the OSGoF, he promised to assist the agency in carrying out it’s core mandate and addressing staff welfare.

The Minister further pledged to explore providing additional Active Control Points to aid with the effectiveness of the OSGof.

“You cannot achieve your desired goal without having accurate data. This is one office that has been working for over 100 years. And because of the advancement in technology, a lot of equipment has become obsolete.

“I am glad that I am here, and I thank the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation for the warm reception, and we will continue to engage and collaborate to have a very fruitful engagement,” Goronyo said.

Earlier speaking, the Surveyor General of the Federation, Abduganiyu Adebomehin, noted the need for increased funding, timely release of allocation, better office accommodation, improving staff strength, and better field vehicles, among other challenges confronting the establishment.

The Surveyor General further pointed out the need for advanced technological equipment to process data for national development.

“There’s a need for us to bring all this data together, collaborate as one entity and use it for decision-making,” he said.
