In North-West Nigeria, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed sports kits to 600 football clubs across the 44 Local Government Areas (LGA) in the State.
Governor Yusuf at the event also presented letters of appointments to Kano Pillars Board members, assuring them of his total support. He identified football as a lucrative venture worldwide which youth deserve to engage in it. He also pledged to rehabilitate all stadiums in their domains.
He explained that some indigenes of the state are presently playing fans across cities of the world, adding that most of them excelled in the profession. The Governor said some of them through playing abroad are supporting their families financially as well as contributing to the economic growth of the state and Nigeria at large.
Governor Yusuf further explained that his administration would continue to empower youths to be self-reliance in any field of endeavour. He assured that Kano Sports Institute under rehabilitation would be equipped with all necessary facilities.
Thereafter, admission would be opened for them whereby accommodation and feeding would be available free of charge.
On Pillars Club, the governor vowed to revive the club so as to perform better, disclosing that, the Kano Football Producing Company would also be resuscitated to continue producing and providing jobs to the teeming youth in the state.
The State Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Kwankwaso, had described Governor Yusuf as the most youth-friendly Governor in Nigeria as a result of his comments to the development of youth and sports.
