In the 170-page memoir, Prof. Salami reflects on her life journey and her time as the 10th Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN. She highlighted the dissolution of federal universities’ governing boards by President Bola Tinubu in 2023, describing it as a welcome relief due to the overbearing tendencies of some pro-chancellors and council members.
Prof. Salami also recounted challenges faced during her tenure, including a student protest allegedly instigated by a university cabal. She revealed that the protest was linked to electricity disconnection issues caused by a billing dispute with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
The thanksgiving and book launch attracted prominent figures, including Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former governor of Edo State, as well as representatives from the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies and other stakeholders in the academic and political spheres.
