Local Governments Union Lauds Kebbi Governor for New Minimum Wage Implementation

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Kebbi State chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Faruk Abubakar Sadiq, has expressed deep gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris for his timely approval and implementation of the new minimum wage for all staff in the State Local Government Service.
In a statement by Governor Idris Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, Comrade Sadiq described the gesture as a testament to Governor Idris’ unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of workers across Kebbi State.
He noted that the Governor had pledged to be among the first in the country to implement the new minimum wage, a promise he has now fulfilled, earning the heartfelt appreciation of NULGE.
The union assured its members that the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is committed to addressing any complaints arising from the payment of the minimum wage.
The NULGE chairman also called on any staff with issues, such as payment omissions, to lodge their complaints through their respective Directors of Finance and Supply. These complaints will be forwarded to the Ministry for necessary action.
Comrade Faruk revealed that 49,150 workers in the 21 Local Government Areas and 24,300 staff of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) have benefitted from the new minimum wage implementation.
The State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Usman Adamu Isgogo, also commended Governor Idris for extending the new minimum wage to teachers, further underscoring his administration’s dedication to the welfare of all workers.
