The Nigerian Government has declared its readiness to expand the scope of Anti-Terrorism war tactics by establishing the Counter Terrorism Communication and Command Control Centre in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The communication command and control Centre would serve as a rapid communication channel between the field operation staff of the NSCDC and other security agencies and the general public to provide immediate information to the base operation office in emergency and other rapid operational needs.

The Centre, which would be cited at the National Headquarters of the NSCDC in Abuja is expected to work in synergy with the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to the president and other security agencies.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Minister of Interior, Dr.Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo commended the leadership ethos of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi for putting in his best to ensure that the Corps delivers its operational mandate.

He noted that the plan to establish the Counter Terrorism Centre is very apt and timely based on the need to fight the dreaded terrorists, criminal elements, and other non-state actors across the globe.

“We will not relent in the fight against corruption, indiscipline, terrorism, kidnapping, vandalism, and other criminal activities until we achieve our desired objectives but we need your cooperation,” the Minister said.

While assuring the Corps of the Minister’s support, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire Service and Correctional Service Board, CGC Ja’faru Ahmed (retired), who represented the Interior Minister at the event admonished the Corps’ management and ensured the timely completion of the center.

In his remarks, the NSCDC boss stated that the establishment of the Centre is in tandem with the strategic goals of the Corps to leverage advanced technology in Securing lives, property, and the nation’s critical assets and infrastructure which underscores the Corps’ commitment to supporting the federal government vision of a secured nation and president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The establishment of the CT-C4 signifies a bold step in our collective resolve to combat terrorism and insecurity within our borders; at the completion, the Center will serve as a State-of-the-art- hub for communication, coordination, and intelligence sharing which would facilitate rapid response and precision in counter-terrorism,” the CG stated.
