Apple to Launch Satellite Connectivity on Smartwatches
Apple plans to launch satellite connectivity for its smartwatches in 2025, starting with the Apple Watch Ultra. This feature will allow users to send messages without a cellular or internet connection.
Additionally, the company is working on integrating blood-pressure monitoring into its smartwatches, with a rollout also expected in 2025.
The satellite feature, reportedly debuting in the next Apple Watch Ultra, builds on Apple’s previous foray into satellite communication, which began with iPhones in 2022 following a US$1.5 billion investment in satellite provider Globalstar to enhance communication services.

In addition to satellite connectivity, Apple is advancing its health-monitoring features, including a blood pressure monitoring capability for the Apple Watch. This new feature could allow users to track their cardiovascular health in real time, marking a significant advancement in wearable technology.
The smartwatch unveiled in September introduced capabilities such as detecting long-term health issues, including sleep apnea, and providing emergency response features. Despite these advancements, Apple has not yet commented publicly on the upcoming developments.
