Kwara Governor Commended for Appointing Journalists to Government Positions

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been praised for providing exemplary leadership as the governor of the State since 2019.

The governor was also hailed for appointing journalists as part of his administration in the State.

The Senior Adviser and Counselor to the Governor, Saadu Salahu made the commendation in a keynote address presented at a strategic seminar organised for government press secretaries, held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Communication, Ilorin.

The seminar themed: ‘Propagation And Documentation Of Government Policies And Programmes: Renewed Roles Of Press Secretaries” was jointly organised by the Sardauna Ilorin Legacy Platform (SILEP) and the Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Salahu said “Governor AbdulRazaq has made us extremely proud being the first governor to have appointed the greatest number of media practitioners into enviable positions in his administration.

“It is on record that the governor has been rightly rated by credible local and international organisations as the best governor in transparency and accountability, good governance, education, health, socio- economic and infrastructural transformation, poverty alleviation, youths and women inclusion in governance, peace and security, urban renewal and ease of doing business,” Salahu added.

He urged the press secretaries to be alive to their responsibilities and in tune with modern trends so that they can excel in their chosen profession.

“I make bold to declare that one of the most fulfilling professions relevant to all ages is public relations practice.

“You stand the brightest chances of fastest and highest career mobility and prospect when you register as a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and maximize professional opportunities for continuous training, conference participation and networking for your personal development and progress.

“Once again, while thanking the organisers of this engagement, I congratulate you as benefiting participants and hope you get inspired to aspire to the height of your professional career from today” Salahu said.

Propagating achievements of governor

In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Special Duties, AbdulRazaq Jiddah, challenged the press secretaries to do more in the propagation of the achievements of the governor.

The State Chairman of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Tunde Akanbi, noted that the people of the state were appreciative of the governor’s giant strides in all sectors.

Dignitaries at the event include a member of the Governing Council of NIPR, Prof. Saudat AbdulBaqi, Special Adviser on Media, Bashiru Adigun, Special Adviser on Labour Matters, AbdulMumini Onagun, Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Ibrahim Danmaigoro amongst others.
