The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba Ndace, underscored the significance of courage within the legal profession, asserting that it represents the quintessential characteristic of a true legal professional.

Ndace delivered a keynote address at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Kaduna Branch Dinner and Awards Night, held in honour of two members who attained the position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria.

The event celebrated courage, resilience, and commitment to justice in the legal community. Ndace emphasised the importance of courage, citing Robert F. Kennedy’s statement that “courage is the most important attribute of a lawyer.”

He commended lawyers who demonstrated courage in the face of adversity, including those who challenged oppressive regimes and defended human rights activists.

The Director-General highlighted the role of public media platforms, such as Voice of Nigeria, in enhancing the legal profession.

He noted that these platforms can augment public awareness, advocate for human rights, showcase expertise, promote access to justice, and facilitate dialogue on necessary reforms.

The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the Honourable Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, and the Emir of Kontagora, Muhammad Barau Mu’azu. In his remarks, the Minister of Information commended the NBA’s activities, congratulating the two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) honoured at the event.

He also urged NBA members to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at taking the country to greater heights.

Ndace emphasised the need for lawyers to continue advocating for justice with unwavering resolve. He encouraged them to strive to make a difference, citing Nelson Mandela’s reminder that “what counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived, but what difference we have made to the lives of others.”
