The management of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has appointed Mr. Mufutau Ojo as the new Editor-in-Chief, following the retirement of Mr. Ephraims Sheyin, on December 11 after 35 years of service to the agency.
Ojo, a distinguished alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduated in 1988 with the prestigious Ogungbesan Prize for the top student in the English Department.
His academic credentials are further bolstered by a Postgraduate Diploma and an M.Sc. in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos and Lagos State University, respectively, alongside an MBA.
A seasoned journalist with over 20 years of experience, Ojo is a Fellow of the Thomson Reuters Foundation in London. In his new role, he will lead an editorial team comprising more than 500 editors and reporters across NAN’s headquarters in Abuja, its Lagos Directorate, 35 state offices, and 18 district offices.
This role places him at the helm of Nigeria’s foremost information provider, which is also recognised as Africa’s largest content provider.
NAN maintains a wide-reaching network, including international offices in New York (USA), Johannesburg (South Africa), and Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), facilitating a broad global reach.
The agency’s strategic partnerships with leading news agencies, including Reuters, Agence France Presse, and Xinhua, among others, enhance its capability to deliver timely and accurate news.
