NSCDC Sensitises Personnel on Work Ethics

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has emphasized the need for utmost best practices amongst personnel to foster integrity in service delivery.

The emphasis was made at a sensitization workshop organized by the FCT command of the NSCDC for its personnel with the theme “Job Racketeering, Financial Fraud, and the Consequences” to instill in them the ethics of the corps and further create awareness of the consequences of falling short of the civil service rules.

The awareness workshop, convened by the Anti Fraud unit of the FCT command of the Corps, was at the instance of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi to all state Commandants to inculcate in their personnel adequate discipline to position the corps for better service delivery.

Declaring the workshop open, the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu said that the workshop was imperative at this point to maintain the highest reputation of the corps through their conduct.

Commandant Odumosu, who spoke through the command’s second in command, (2ic) Deputy Commandant of Corps Hussaini Pama, charged officers to be committed to upholding the integrity of the corps so that they could collectively combat any form of negative vices that could threaten the reputation of the corps

The FCT Commandant maintained that it was necessary for officers to foster an environment of transparency and accountability to reflect the values of the corps.

“Above every other thing, the reputation of the corps must remain sacrosanct in officers’ conduct at all times,” he said.

The FCT helmsman warned officers to desist from acts that are capable of tarnishing the image of the corps, emphasizing that officers found wanting in any area will be made to face the consequences of their actions.

Presenting a paper titled Managing Personnel Financial Discipline in the Workplace by Mrs. Alice Bolarinwa of the Independence Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), she outlined effective strategies for preventing Job Racketeering.

Balarinwa emphasized the need for vigilance and ethical conduct amongst personnel to maintain the corps’ image of integrity in service delivery.

The all-inclusive workshop had in attendance management staff, all heads of departments, Area Commanders, and Divisional Officers as well as personnel drawn from all departments and units of the NSCDC in attendance.
