Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has brought festive cheer to his childhood community in Olusosun, Lagos, by distributing 2,000 motor-tricycles and food items to youths and mothers. The initiative, reported by The PUNCH, underscores the 2023 African Footballer of the Year’s commitment to giving back to his roots.

The gesture, which started in Lagos, is set to extend to Osimhen’s hometown in Benin, with plans to reach more beneficiaries. This act of kindness follows similar charitable efforts by his Super Eagles teammates Alex Iwobi and Tolu Arokodare.

Osimhen’s Record On and Off the Pitch

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in stellar form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 15 appearances. Off the pitch, he continues to touch lives with initiatives that reflect his humble beginnings and dedication to uplifting others.

Iwobi and Arokodare Join the Spirit of Giving

Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi also contributed to the festive season with the launch of ‘AleXpress’ in Canning Town, East London. The event saw Iwobi distribute food items, including turkeys, to 100 families as part of Project 17. “My dad always gave back, and it’s something I’ve taken with me,” Iwobi told BBC Sport Africa.

Meanwhile, Genk striker Tolu Arokodare collaborated with Sint-Vincentius, a local charity in Belgium, to distribute food parcels to families in need. Alongside three Genk teammates, Arokodare helped prepare food parcels for an organisation that distributes over 20 tonnes of food monthly, according to Belgian news outlet TVL.

These acts of kindness by Osimhen, Iwobi, and Arokodare highlight the values of generosity and community among Nigerian football stars, ensuring that the festive spirit reaches those in need both at home and abroad.
