Christmas Lunch: Defence Chief Urges Troops to Remain Resolute in Discharging Duties

The Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has urged front-line troops to remain steadfast and resolute in their responsibilities in ensuring the indivisibility of the country.
He made this statement today, 26 December, 2024, during his feast with troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Sokoto State, to commemorate with the Christmas Day Celebration
Speaking further at the occasion, the CDS extends his appreciation to troops for their unwavering dedications and sacrifices in ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria.
He added that the dislodgement of the re-emerged Lakurawas’ terrorist from their Camps in Sokoto and Kebbi States is testament to the Armed Forces of Nigeria ( AFN) commitment to resolving and combating all security challenges across the theaters of operations, while pledging the AFN continuous sustainance of operational tempo and posture across Military deployment both home and abroad.
General Musa assured troops of necessary support and resources to carry out their tasks effectively.
He also encouraged troops to embrace fostering unity, understanding, and compassion in all they do.
The CDS further expressed his sincere appreciation to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his relentless support and the confidence reposed on him to lead members of the AFN, while reaffirming AFN unalloyed loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic.
Similarly, he thanked the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu, for his support.
The CDS also took time to visit wounded and sick soldiers of 8 Division Nigeria Army, Sokoto at their hospital bed.
He finally charged troops to be vigilant, stay focused, and continue to exemplify the finest military traditions.
The General officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigeria Army and Commander Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General IS Ajose in his response, described the feast as a testament to General Musa’s unflinching support and commitment to troops welfare, morale and operation efficiency of troops.
He commended the CDS for his several visits in 3 months, which he said has afforded CDS the opportunity to understand and appreciate the performances and challenges faced by troops.
Major General Ajose further added that the feast is not only an opportunity to celebrate the Christmas season but “to reflect on our collective sacrifices, achievements, and to resolve as a team”, he said.
Finally, he salutes troops’courage, resilience, and professionalism. According to him, that was instrumental to the successes recorded so far.
