No Foreign Military Base Formation in Nigeria – CDS

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, said no Foreign Military Base will be established in any part of the country.

General Musa stated this at a special Christmas luncheon with troops of operation Fansan Yamma in Giginya Contonment in Sokoto State.

He assured the neighbouring countries of Niger, Chad, Togo and Benin Republic the Nigeria government would not allow any foreign body to use its soil to attack any of it’s neighbouring countries.

“In Nigeria we would not allow anybody or any foreign base to be established in the country. We have the capacity and capability.

“The only thing we can do is we can train together, we go to abroad for training and they come to Nigeria too, we only do an exchange training,” he said.

He appeal to neighbouring countries to disregard any rumours that a foreign base would be establish in Nigeria.

“Recently some of our neighbours accused Nigeria of allowing its soil to be used and establish a foreign base, Nigerian government would never allow that to happen,” he added.

General Musa urged Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Togo and Benin Republic to join hands with Nigeria to defeat the activities of terrorism across the region.

He warned those communities supporting the activities of Lakurawas Terrorists to desists from such act or face the consequences.

“The Lakurawas and all those that support them should be ready, we have already started our operations and we are going to intensify our operations until they are flush out.

” We want to ensure that nobody is allowed to take any Nigerian hostage wherever he is in the country.

” Its our duty and task to ensure that every Nigerian is free to perform his duty freely,” he noted.

He appreciated the troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria.

He urged them to continue to remain steadfast and resolute in discharge of their responsibilities.

“The coming year presents us with an opportunity to make significant progress in overcoming the challenges confronting our nation.

” Together, we must strive to ensure that the Year 2025 is marked by transformative victories in all our operational theatres, particularly in Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

” Let me assure you of the necessary support and resources to carry out your tasks effectively. Your welfare, and that of your families, remains a top priority, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure your needs are met,” he said.

General Musa noted that Armed Forces of Nigeria under his leadership will continue to sustain its operational tempo and posture across military deployments both home and abroad.

The CDS expressed his appreciation to
the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continuous support to the Armed Forces and the confidence reposed in him to lead the great men and women of the Nigerian Army.

Earlier, the chief of defence staff commissioned some projects executed as part of his contribution at Yahaya Abdulkarim Model Primary school where he attended.

He appreciated the school management and community leaders for their support towards ensuring timely completion of the work.

He urged the school to take full ownership of the projects, while assuring more interventions in to the school.

Also in his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and the Commander Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, thanked the CDS for the visit despite his tied schedules.

He said the lunch is not only an opportunity to celebrate Christmas, but also to reflect on collective sacrifices, achievement and to resolve as a team.

The GOC lauded the troops courage, resilience and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“Your unwavering commitments to duty has been instrumental in the successes recorded in operation FANSAN YAMMA, you are a true heroes of our nation.

“I am proud to lead such a discipline and determine team,” he added.

The highlights of the visit was presentation of souvenirs to CDS, visit to his former basketball site and among others.
