Taraba: Troops Arrest Two Suspected Terrorists, Recover Weapons

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons in Taraba State North Eastern Nigeria.

According to Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, the arrests were made possible through intensified intelligence-driven operations following the kidnapping of a district head in Jalingo Local Government Area of the State on November 27, 2024.

The first suspect, Musa Suito, was arrested on December 18, 2024, in the Jalingo metropolis. Suito, a member of a vigilante group, was found to have exploited his position to gather information on potential targets for kidnappers. One Dane gun and two cartridges were recovered from him.

In another operation conducted on December 20, 2024, troops arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Nura Yakubu, at Garba Chede in the Bali Local Government Area of the same State.

 Investigations revealed that Yakubu, a food vendor, was involved in harbouring Boko Haram terrorists deployed to Taraba State for terrorist activities.

 He and his gang were linked to the kidnapping of a businessman, Arinze, and the son of Alhaji Ibrahim in the Garbatau community of Bali Local Government Area.

Captain Oni emphasized that the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across Taraba State and beyond. 

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance the fight against criminal elements.
