Deputy Senate President Awards Scholarships to 70 Kano Students

Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has presented scholarship award letters to 70 Kano indigenes for postgraduate studies in India.

At a farewell ceremony in Kano, North West Nigeria, Senator Jibrin also presented scholarship materials that included laptops, a Holy Qur’an, and travel bags, among others, to the students.

He urged the students to go to India with a greater commitment to making Kano and Nigeria proud by being good ambassadors.

The Deputy Senate President challenged the students to dedicate themselves to their studies and learn better.

“Go and come back with flying colours to add value to Nigeria’s economy,” he urged.

Senator Jibrin noted that his foundation will continue to identify deserving students in similar scholarship schemes to improve education in the Northern Commercial City.

“We will be happy to have back, but when you have something doing you can work and make sure you don’t forget home and when you come back, come with development Ideas,” he stated.

While urging people not to politicize education, Senator Jibrin called on the students not to be involved in partisan politics while abroad.

He promised to make provision for the students who graduated with flying colours to establish themselves in the country to impact society.

Senator Jibrin urged the parents to assist the students with prayers for them to succeed.

North West Development Commission

The Deputy Senate President informed the gathering that over 500 billion naira has been budgeted for the North West Development Commission to take care of developing the entire region.

He promised that the coming of the Commission would engender rapid transformation in the region.

Also, the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, Professor Mohammed Abdullahi, said the students will study artificial intelligence and robotic science while in India.

Others who spoke encouraged the students to study hard and make a difference.
