The Nigerian Navy personnel stationed in the Agbura community of Bayelsa State successfully executed a rescue operation involving nine individuals, which included eight police officers and one civilian. Additionally, three rifles belonging to the police officers were recovered during this operation.
In a statement, the Director Information, Navy, Commodore, Aiwuyor Adams- Aliu said that “the officers were en route Yenagoa when their speed boat hit a submerged wreck and capsized.”
However, the submerged wreckage that caused the incident was noted and marked to prevent further occurrences.
“The recovered weapons were documented and secured awaiting proper handing and taking over to the Nigerian Police Force Bayelsa State Command,” he said.
According to him, this successful rescue operation underscores the synergy and collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and security agencies.
