The Gombe State Government has sworn in 5 new Permanent Secretaries.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya said their appointment and subsequent swearing-in was a testament to their qualifications, dedication, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to the progress and development of the state.
He said the Permanent Secretaries form the backbone of the civil service and were the administrative engine that drives the effective implementation of government policies and programs.
“Your role is pivotal in ensuring the continuity and efficiency of governance, and it is a responsibility that demands nothing less than excellence,” said Governor Yahaya.
He reminded them of the immense responsibilities that come with the office, where they are entrusted with the sacred duty of serving the people of Gombe State with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
Unwavering sense
Governor Yahaya said he was confident that the new permanent secretaries would carry out their roles with the highest ethical standards and an unwavering sense of duty, saying “your decisions will directly impact the lives of our citizens.”
He said his administration had undertaken significant reforms in the.past five years, which were aimed at transforming the civil service to achieve greater efficiency and improved service delivery.
The Gombe State Governor said the establishment of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms was one of the initiatives adopted to reposition the civil service as a model of excellence.
“Additionally, we have cleared over ₦17 billion in gratuity obligations inherited from previous administrations, ensured the timely payment of pensions, and implemented the new minimum wage at the state level,” said Governor Yahaya.
He said he expected the civil servants would in return reciprocate with same level of dedication and productivity, maintaining that his administration operates zero tolerance for corruption, indiscipline, incompetence, and wastefulness.
The newly sworn in Permanent Secretaries are:
- Prof. Muazu Shehu Usman – Gombe LGA
- Mohammed Bello Abubakar – Akko LGA
- Mohammed Yusuf Kulani – Balanga LGA
- Ahmed Saidu Guli – Dukku LGA
- Alhassan Ibrahim – Yamaltu Deba LGA
The Governor said the newly sworn-in permanent secretaries had since been assigned to their various places of assignment through the office of the Head of Civil Service.
