Copilot Chat: Microsoft’s New On-Demand AI Service

Microsoft, a software giant, on Wednesday introduced Copilot Chat, an autonomous AI chat service that enables companies to deploy on-demand AI agents for ordinary activities.

The company is banking that the pay-as-you-go approach will increase the use of the technology.

Copilot Chat, a free tool that leverages OpenAI’s GPT-4, enables users to build AI agents in natural languages like Mandarin and English for tasks like meeting preparation, strategy document draughting, and market research.

However, a $30 monthly Microsoft 365 Copilot membership is needed to use capabilities like making PowerPoint slides and summarising and transcribing Teams calls.

Given that it plans to spend over $80 billion on data centres and AI infrastructure this fiscal year, Microsoft is already under pressure to demonstrate the benefits of its significant investments in AI.

Remember Microsoft started letting users develop self-governing agents that needed little human involvement in November.

According to some analysts, this approach would provide software corporations with a more straightforward way to make money.
