Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully neutralised three terrorists, including the son of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, during a coordinated operation in the Fakai high ground, where the terrorists had been hiding. Additionally, three suspected collaborators were arrested.
In a statement, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, confirmed that the operation was carried out in conjunction with the air component and targeted several locations along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axes. The military’s intense firepower led to significant terrorist casualties, including the destruction of their logistics hub.
The operation also resulted in the rescue of several hostages who had been kidnapped by Bello Turji’s group. According to General Buba, the terrorist leader cowardly abandoned his son and combatants in the face of the military onslaught, fleeing the scene.
In a related development, the troops destroyed another terrorist camp in the Zango Kagara Forest, known as the Idi Mallam camp. During the operations, the troops recovered significant weapons, including two machine guns, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, as well as 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep.
The military continues to pursue and neutralise terrorist threats, reaffirming its commitment to the safety and security of all citizens across the country.
