The Chairman of the Plateau Civil Service Commission in northcentral Nigeria, Prof. Paul Samani, has announced plans to digitize the commission’s operations. This move aims to align with modern technological advancements and improve overall efficiency.

Samani stated this on Tuesday in Jos when he led officials of the commission to interface with the Plateau State House of Assembly Committee on Labour and Security.

The chairman said that the commission would create a department to be solely responsible for Information Communications Technology (ICT) to achieve the target.

He revealed that the civil service would be overhauled to create a proactive workforce.

The chairman, however, said that the commission had several challenges, such as the need for a more conducive working environment and the need for more vehicles.

He further appealed for an upward review of the commission’s overhead cost, as the current cost of N500,000 was grossly inadequate.

In his response, the Chairman of the House Committee on Labour and Security, Mr Nanbol Daniel, commended the commission for informing the house of its blueprint to improve the commission.

Daniel assured the commission that government attention would be drawn to the issues raised to ensure a vibrant workforce.
