In a significant boost to education and innovation in Africa, Google has launched the 2025 Google DeepMind AI for Science Scholarships.

These fully funded scholarships aim to empower African students to pursue postgraduate studies in artificial intelligence (AI) and related fields.

The initiative, a collaboration between Google DeepMind and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), offers comprehensive support to scholars, ensuring they have the resources needed to excel in their studies. Partner universities across Africa are also part of this programme.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must:

  • Be African citizens and residents at the time of application.
  • Have a four-year undergraduate or three-year degree with an honours year in fields such as mathematics, physics, computer science, or engineering.
  • Not have previously held an AIMS scholarship.
