The Kebbi State Government in North West Nigeria has launched an initiative to support over 15,613 dry-season farmers in Gulunbe Town In a bid to boost food security and empower farmers.

Governor Nasir Idris, who inspected over 16,000 hectares of potato farms under the “Ka dage” dry-season farming program, emphasized the importance of this initiative in achieving the federal government’s food security goals.

The governor noted that Kebbi State alone has the potential to feed the entire country, given its vast agricultural resources and the success of its dry-season farming programs.

As part of the initiative, the state government is providing free seeds, fertilizers, and insecticides to farmers, as well as solar-powered pumping machines to support irrigation.

Commissioner of Agriculture Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu praised the governor’s efforts, stating that the “Ka dage” program will enable farmers to plant crops during both the rainy and dry seasons, ensuring a bumper harvest.

The Kebbi State Government’s support for farmers is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s agricultural sector and contribute to the country’s food security goals.
