Governor of Osun State in Southwest Nigeria, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and sustainable development, noting that those would be the priorities of his administration throughout his tenure.
The Governor made the pledge on Thursday, in Osogbo, after being conferred with Governor of The Year Award by The Leadership Newspaper Group in recognition of his performance.
Adeleke said his motivation for transforming the state’s education, health, agriculture, mining and digital economy sectors was the desire to meet the people of the state at the very point of their needs.
Accolades he had received
He said the accolades he had received from several quarters were testament to his service delivery and performance as an agent of good governance.
He said: “In the last one year, our government has been conferred with several awards across the sectors. Aside from reputable newspapers like the leadership stable, we have received accolades from several federal agencies and non-governmental bodies. The consensus from those reviewing our performance and service delivery is that we are true agents of good governance.”
Adeleke explained that while praises were good in themselves as recognition of quality and excellence, they were actually catalysts for more revolutionary changes and inclusive service delivery.
Infrastructural deficit
He vowed never to relent until all his campaign promises were redeemed and the infrastructural deficit in the state was fixed, stressing that the award would drive him to work harder for the people.
“In all these positive ratings, my response has always been to task my team to double their efforts. In the face of overwhelming positive reviews and high approval ratings, I am compelled to drive my team harder. When recently some opposition figures confessed to our positive ratings, I still believe we have a lot of grounds to cover.
“Our huge governance records are undeniable facts especially in workers welfare, infrastructure delivery, educational expansion, health care access improvement, solid mineral sector reforms, digital economy initiatives, agricultural mechanisation among others.”
The Governor assured residents of the state that more developmental projects were coming their way, particularly those that target the state’s rural folks, energetic youth, enterprising women as well as the digitally oriented urban population.
