Kano State Governor Awards Four Metropolitan Roads Rehabilitation Contract

The Kano State Governor in North West Nigeria, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has awarded contracts for the rehabilitation of four major roads within the metropolitan area worth over N20 billion.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Marwan Ahmad disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Kano.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to upgrading the state’s road network.

According to Ahmad, the initiative aims to enhance road infrastructure and improve the overall well-being of motorists and residents in the state.

The works Commissioner explained that “the awarded projects include the Rehabilitation and Asphalt Overlay of Airport Junction – Ashton Road to Airport Road to Club Road to MM Way Roundabout at a cost of N7,469,771,591.42 and Rehabilitation and Asphalt Overlay of Airport Gate to Triumph Roundabout to MM Way Flyover to KSIP Roundabout at N5,956,044,814.04.”

Others are “the Rehabilitation and Asphalt Overlay of Sabo Bakin Zuwo Road (from Government House Roundabout to Maiduguri Road) at N2,014,192,186.55 and Rehabilitation and Asphalt Overlay of Muhammadu Buhari Road (from Kabuga Underpass to Katsina Road Underpass) at N4,108,966,050.00.”

Engr. Ahmad also announced that the government has lined up five additional mega road projects, which are currently in various stages of procurement.

He said the projects are expected to further enhance Kano’s road infrastructure and ease traffic congestion.

“The upcoming projects include Sharada (Danagundi) to Panshekara Underpass Road, MM Way (Club Road Roundabout) to Bompai Road (Central Hotel) to Audu Bako Way (Magwan) to State Road, and RMK Flyover to Obasanjo Road/Flyover to IBB Way to Kofar Mazugal Junction to Katsina Road.

“Others are Aminu Kano Way (from Mumbayya House) to Gadon Kaya to Yahaya Gusau to Sharada Road and Mumbayya House to Kofar Mazugal to Triumph Roundabout.”

He assured that the projects will improve traffic flow, enhance economic activities, and contribute to the overall development of Kano State.
