Flight Operations Resume at Kano Airport

Normal flight operations have resumed at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport after a Max Air Boeing 737 aircraft experienced a nose-wheel landing gear collapse and a rear tyre burst while landing on the runway.

A visit by Voice of Nigeria indicates that flight activities have returned to the airport.

Meanwhile, a press statement released by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) obtained in Kano reveals that the incident occurred at 10:50 local time with 53 passengers and 6 crew members on board.

In the statement, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, said no injuries were reported.

She explained that emergency services responded promptly, and the incident was managed according to the necessary emergency response plan.

Mrs. Orah said the aircraft has been towed to Bay 5 for further investigation, which is ongoing by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) to examine the causes of the incident.

She explained that the runway was opened at 08:00 hrs, and normal flight operations have resumed at the airport.

FAAN assured the passengers that the incident is being investigated and assured measures to be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
