Nigerian Railway Corporation Boss Promises To Align With Core Mandate

Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa says the Corporation will align itself with core mandate and mission,which are efficiency, safety and customer satisfaction driven by passion and excellence.
Dr. Opeifa who was speaking with Journalists upon assumption of office at the Corporation headquarters in Lagos state southwest Nigeria, promised to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects, modernize the infrastructure and expand the services to meet the growing demands of the population.
He said the mission is centered around transforming the rail sector in Nigeria into a world-class, efficient, and safe mode of transportation which is strongly aligned to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the 25-year Strategic Rail Modernisation plan, aimed at connecting every state in Nigeria.
According to him, “I am mindful that my role as the managing director of Nigerian Railway Corporation is to represent and be the face of the vision of the government as summarized in the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr president, the various policy speeches and documents of Mr.President and other authorized government documents from the Ministry of Transportation and other relevant government MDA as it relate to the Rail sector and as permitted by NRC Act and other related directives.
“As we gather here today,I am reminded of the critical role the Nigerian Railway Corporation plays in driving economic growth,promoting national integration, and improving the lives of our citizens. We will, together work tirelessly to ensure that corporation achieves its mandate and exceed expectations.
Dr. Opeifa stressed that, his leadership will prioritize the security of lives and property, modernize and expansion with focus on the upgrading of existing rail infrastructure, increase connectivity to major cities, service excellence to satisfy customers, capacity building to develop the skills and expertise of the staff.
Others include: Collaboration through deepened relationship with various regional development agencies, accelerating project completion to meet the growing demand for rail services, enhanced private sector participation, improve on the commercial aspect of our operations for improved revenue,rail sector contribution to GDP, collaboration for service delivery with agencies like, FCCPC, ICPC, PEBEC, EFCC, CCB, SERVICOM, NOA among others.
” I will motivate the staff with good welfare package, work in harmonious and cordial relationship with Union relations, grow national economic via inter and Multi Modal Mobility, reduces multi dimensional poverty through rail economy,Job creation and Skill acquisition with NDE,SMEDAN,ITF, NEITI,NITT and other educational institutions, sustainability and environmental protection, strategic Communication and Media relations as well as data technology and innovation driven repositioning.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Minister of Transportation,Ahmed Alkali for his continued leadership of the Ministry and the NRC most especially as witnessed in the last 15 months and personally by me in the last 10 days. I also thank the entire NRC team for their hard work and commitment,while looking forward to working with each and every one of you to achieve greatness” he concluded.
