The Kano State Government in North West Nigeria has given a breakdown of 2025 Budget of N719,755,417,663.00bn.
The budget which was approved and assented to, by Governor Abba Yusuf in December last year, had a recurrent expenditure of N262, 670, 562.65 billion while the capital expenditure stood at N457,084,100.35 billion.
According to Kano State Commissioner of Planning and Budget Alhaji Musa Shanono, the approved budget is above the state projected a available resources as contained in the 2025-2027 medium term Expenditure Framework due to improvement of Revenue from Federal Account Allocation FAAC as a result of subsidy removal and others.
Shanono while giving the breakdown said, Education sector received the lion share of N205,944,608,720.87 billion representing 29% of the state total budget.
This surpassed the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation UNESCO declaration of 26%.
He noted that, the education allocation was designed to support policies of the declaration of state of emergency on Education by Governor Yusuf in the Construction of class rooms, learning materials, training and rehabilitations among others in from primary to tertiary levels.
The health sector received the sum of N109,273,061,129.98 billion representing 15.18% of the budget.
According to Shanono, various projects including constructions of hospitals in communities, renovations of both primary, secondary and tertiary health Institutions among others will be carry out.
The Agricultural sector, received over N16 billion while Water Resources Ministry received over N32 billion.
The Commissioner said, projects to be executed will includes Construction of new Dams, boreholes, procurement of water treatment plants renovations of Dams, upgrading of some facilities training among many other projects.
The infrastructural development over N98 billion for the Construction and completion of various projects that affects Kano city and the 44 local governments areas.
The Kano Budget Commissioner said sector such as Environment and Climate change got over N15billion, Transport over N13 billion, Security, Law and Justice got over N19 billion.
While Manufacturing received over N32 billion, Women, Youths and people with special needs over N5 billion, the governance Institutions and service delivery received over N91 billion.
The Commissioner stressed the commitment of Kano state Government under Governor Yusuf in addressing the yearnings of the people.
