NPFL: Remo Stars Beat Sunshine In South West Derby

Remo Stars claimed a 2-1 victory against Sunshine Stars In Nigeria Premier Football League’s (NPFL) South West derby, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State on Saturday.

Winger Alex Oyowah gave Remo Stars the lead after six minutes, nodding the ball home following a brilliant cross from Sikiru Alimi.

Remo Stars pressed forward and then extended its lead through Ibrahim Abubakar after he lopped the on-rushing goalkeeper.

Sunshine Stars then pulled a goal back through Matthew Samuel in the 67th minute to give their fans a glimmer of hope. However, the match finished 2-1 as the referee blew the final whistle.

It was Daniel Ogunmodede’s side fourth away win of the campaign. Remo Stars occupy top spot on the NPFL log with 45 points from 22 games.

Sunshine Stars are 15th on the NPFL table with 24 points from 22 games.

Remo Stars continues its impressive NPFL campaign with victory over Sunshine Stars marking their fourth away win of the season, despite this fixture being on home turf.

After the match, Remo Stars’ defensive discipline was praised by coach Daniel Ogunmodede, as they held firm to secure all three points.
