Katsina state: Mani LG sponsors surgery for hernia patients
Mani Local Government Area of Katsina State, is sponsoring surgery for patients with hernia in the area.
The council’s Chairman, Dr Yunusa Muhammad-Sani, disclosed that, the measure was part of the council’s commitment to the health and well-being of the people.
According to him, the council realised that hernia was among the major ailments affecting people in some of the area with many of them not going for treatment either due to financial constraints or because of the long distance.
“We started this in the last three months, we perform free surgery on 10 to 15 patients every week.
“We engaged some medical doctors and other experts who conduct the operation and prescribe drugs to the patients,” he said.
The Chairman also said that the council has upgraded some clinics and dispensaries to boost healthcare services delivery in rural areas.
According to him, five Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs), were renovated and fenced, while three staff houses were constructed and provided other facilities to enhance healthcare services.
Muhammad-Sani said that the PHCs were in Tsagem, Bagiwa, Kwatta, Randawa and Bujawa communities.
He said that efforts were ongoing to engage health personnel who would render services in the facilities.
The chairman applauded the efforts of the state government for renovating Mani General Hospital, which he said, would contribute immensely in improving the healthcare services delivery in the area.
