The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, has pledged the 7th Assembly’s commitment to enacting legislation that would improve the welfare of parliamentary staff.

Jatau made the pledge while accepting the “Award of Excellence “conferred on him by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).

The speaker received the award at the close of PASAN’s 25th National Executive Council meeting in Lafia on Friday.

Jatau, who was represented by Mr Daniel Ogazi, a lawmaker (Kokona East) in the State House of Assembly, said improved welfare would boost workers’ morale and productivity.

Jatau emphasised that parliamentary staff were the backbone of the Assembly and that prioritising their welfare was essential.

He said: “Parliamentary Staff play roles in assisting lawmakers in carrying out their legislative duties as enshrined in the constitution.

“Improving the welfare of staff is paramount because it will ginger them to work harder and there will be optimal productivity for the overall development of the country.’’

Jatau expressed his gratitude to PASAN for the award, stating that it would motivate him to do more for the state.
