Kano state inaugurates health fellows programme selection committee
Kano State Government has launched the Health Fellows Programme Selection Committee aimed at selecting talented individuals from across the state’s 44 local government areas to enhance healthcare delivery.

The committee was inaugurated on Friday in Kano by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran.
He said that the programme was a key part of ongoing health sector reforms focusing on developing future healthcare leaders with advanced skills in Medicine, IT, Social Sciences, and Finance.
Labaran emphasised the importance of the initiative in strengthening the healthcare system through capacity building and mentorship.
According to him, the committee will ensure a transparent, merit-based selection process to identify and nurture potential healthcare leaders at the grassroots level.
The commissioner said that the committee would be chaired by Dr Mayana Sanusi, the State Coordinator of the World Health Organization..
Also, Dr Nura Abubakar, the State Coordinator of the Sector-Wide Approach Project, as Secretary, with other mmembers including senior health officials and community leaders.
Others include Dr Ibrahim Gano, Director of Public Health and Disease Control and Mahmud Tajo Gaya, Chairman of Gaya Local Government Area.
They also include Aliyu Jinjiri-Kiru, Director of Planning at the Primary Healthcare Management Board and Dr Musa Bello-Muhammad from Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
In his remarks, Sanusi expressed gratitude to the Coordinating Minister of Health and the Kano State Commissioner for Health for the confidence shown in the committee.
He assured that the committee would operate with transparency, equity and a focus on gender equality in its task.
